Saturday Shepherd and the World Beyond
Logan Nance
Five stars! The only thing I regret about this book is the fact that it took me so long to pick it up and read it. My mom got me this book for my birthday, which was last October, but I had so many other books I wanted to read that Saturday Shepherd just kept getting pushed further and further back on my TBR shelf. I am extremely glad I picked it up this past weekend. Not only is it my favorite genre (Fantasy/YA), but it’s also really well written and has an amazing story. Saturday Shepherd is a normal mortal boy, with normal mortal parents, or so he thought. When the book starts, we’re introduced to Saturday, whose mom and dad have died, so he lives with his grandparents. Later in the book we find out that his father wasn’t human, and neither is he. When his mom and dad had Saturday, his dad immediately knew that he was a rare breed; so, he did multiple things to ensure his son's safety. As Saturday learns about this new world he's been thrust into, he must contend with vampires, shapeshifters and other supernatural beings. The book is fast-paced and a quick read. It is loaded with wonderful, well-developed characters such as Saturday, Liz, Wes, Maria, Mallory and Hunter. If you like twists and turns, you'll love this book. I love a book where a twist in the story catches me off-guard. Saturday Shepherd caught me off-guard a couple of times! But I won't give any spoilers. It appears this is only the beginning of the adventures for Saturday Shepherd...and I can't wait for the next one!
We have copies of Saturday Shepherd and the World Beyond available for purchase at A Likely Story.

The Second Time Around
Mary Higgins Clark
FIVE STARS!! I’m a huge Mary Higgins Clark fan, so naturally I loved this book! The only thing I didn’t like was the ending and that’s just because I was holding onto hope that a certain character lived AND wasn’t a thief. But let’s be honest, this is a Mary Higgins Clark book, the odds of this character living and not have stolen from his company were 0. Other than that one minor detail I absolutely loved this book! There are some sad parts but not very many. It’s not like truly scary or anything like that. 10/10 would recommend this book to anyone who loves Mary Higgins Clark.
“The Second Time Around” is mystery. A Likely Story has copies available for purchase.

Heaven Is For Real
Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent
As someone who isn’t certain that God exists- I believe there is something up there but the idea of God is a little scary so I’m not sure if He exists or not- this book will definitely make you think. There are definitely some sad parts but it really makes you think which I enjoy. As I was saying earlier, at the beginning of this book I was really uncertain about whether or not God exists, I envy people who have complete and utter faith. Now after finishing the book, I’m leaning towards “Yes, there is a God” mainly because of the way Colton described certain events and people. There’s no way a 6 year old could know something with THAT much detail. I absolutely love this book. Normally I don’t like nonfiction because I like reading to escape from the real world but occasionally I’ll find a nonfiction book that I absolutely love! Heaven Is For Real is an excellent book about one little boy’s life and death experience, but it’s more than that. It’s about a family’s strength and faith.

When I was diagnosed with FND in 2017, it was a scary time for all of us. My family and I started living by the motto "Faith over Fear" and still do. This family exemplifies that motto as well.
“Heaven is for Real” is nonfiction and religion. A Likely Story has copies available for purchase.
